U.S.A. and Mexico: A stablished trade in goods.

Mexico is located in North America and has a land area of 1.964.380 square kilometers and  a population over 121 million people.  It is a big country with a high population density and  also one of the countries with the lowest rate of unemployment.

The successful macro-economic indicators maintained overtime, together with its geographic location and its demographic characteristics, led to the flourishing of Mexico foreign trade, and have turned the country into an ideal place to run commercial transactions. And the U.S.A is aware of that.

Already in 2015 it turned to be the U.S.A. second largest trading partner, taking over Canada, country that had enjoyed that position for years. But the data obtained in 2016 have broken all records until today in the external trade between Mexico and the U.S.A. The imports from our neighbours outstrips the 13% of all their external trade, reaching nearly USD 300 billion. These figures can only be outstripped by China.

But... How did Mexico get to become the second most important exporter of the U.S.A.?

It all began from 1 January 1990, when the U.S.A., Canada and Mexico signed the North American Free Trade Agreement. The aim of such agreement was the end of the trade barriers, promoting the fair competition, increasing the investments among those countries and promoting their mutual trade as well.

The Agreement was a success all along, leading to place Mexico in the second place (and Canada in the third) of the largest exporter countries for the biggest world economic power.

Exports to the U.S.A. are so important that they mean around the 80% of the overall exports that we perform. It brought as a trade superavit of more than USD 59 billion during january to november, 2016. Those are very positive data for the entire mexican economy. The other way around, the U.S.A. is also the main importer of goods from Mexico, representing around a 50% from their overall import.

Main exports between them.

Motor vehicles and their components, electrical devices such as T.V.s and audio systems, fossil energies, medical equipment and plastics are the main demands from the U.S.A.

The other way around, the main imports that we do to the U.S.A. are parts and intermediate replacements for our production chain, and refined oil.

The commercial transactions between them both, an opportunity for importers and exporters.

As we can see, the trade of any sort of goods is very common among both countries, thanks to the Free Trade Agreement. Such figures reveal the profits and the security that your business can have if you place the imports and exports between Mexico and the U.S.A. as one of your main commercial transactions.
